Introduction
So who am I?
Me at 19, up a hill behind Cardiff, doing what I love - making pictures outdoors.
I grew up in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, one of the component countries of the United Kingdom. Mum was English, Dad was Welsh (and a Welsh speaker), and I grew up bilingual. Dad was a warden in the National Museum of Wales and I spent a lot of my early life playing in the illustrious halls while Dad was on duty. We lived a mile away, and Mum would often take me there to while away a few hours and to get out of the house. I have grown up feeling that museums are like home, and I’m thankful that my own kids had a similar experience as we lived very close to our local museum and library when they were very young, and we spent huge amounts of time there too.
Not long after this photo was taken, I moved to Stoke-on-Trent to study Fine Art at the then polytechnic (now Staffordshire University). I came away with a degree in fine art printmaking, my future husband, and a newfound Christian faith. We got married not long after graduating, and settled near to the church that we are still members of. Just over 30 years later, we’re now out in the suburbs with two grown up daughters.
And I still love drawing outdoors. More on this later….
